NEWCASTLE UNITED have confirmed that record signing Miguel Almirón will miss the rest of the season.
The Paraguyan, signed in January from Atlanta United in a £20m deal, suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday's 3-1 win over Southampton and has been monitored over the last few days.
Almiron, 25, had to go off in the 64th minute against the Saints and it has now been deemed he will not be fit for Newcastle's three matches of the campaign.
He now faces a battle to be for for this summer's Copa America. Newcastle have been in touch with the Paraguayan Football Association and will continue to update them.
