HARTLEPOOL UNITED’S high-flying women’s team get a chance to impress at the Super 6 Stadium pitch tomorrow when they host Wallsend in the NERWFL Premier Division (2pm kick-off).

Jonathan Gibbon-Hayes’ side have enjoyed a successful 2018/19 campaign and currently lie second in the table behind champions Durham Cestria.

Pools are in the fifth tier of the pyramid and finishing second would show improvement on last term’s third place finish and give extra encouragement for 2019/20.

Striker Caitlin Bates had booked a holiday to Egypt, but the lure of playing on the pitch means she changed plans to ensure she is available.

“I’ve been a season ticket holder pretty much since I was six-months-old,’’ said the 22-year-old. “To be able to play here is a dream come true really.

“I think we’ve seen in recent games at the Vic how much the atmosphere has helped the team – especially when we beat Wrexham.

“We aren’t going to get that many in, but it would be nice to get a few hundred in to support us and cheer us on.’’

Admission tomorrow is £1.
