Goal:
0-1: Yussuf 58 (Loach went to clear a corner, the ball flew up, he had it covered, dropped it and the striker poked in)
Bookings: None
Referee: David Rock (Hertford): Too confusing at times 4
Attendance: 2,981
Entertainment: 3/5
HARTLEPOOL UNITED (4-2-3-1):
8 Loach: Made four vital first half saves, three of them absolutely sublime, but then fumbled the ball to gift the visitors a goal. Who would be a goalkeeper?
6 Kioso: Enjoying his run in the side at right-back. Athletic and committed, he has proved a real find last summer
7 Kerr: Likes to defend and was clearly missed at Eastleigh the week before when Pools shipped three goals. A solid and safe National League centre-half
6 Edgar: Steady away at the back without being spectacular throughout. Probably won’t stay at Pools beyond the end of the season, but would be an asset with his experience
6 Anderson: His height and strength was needed against the big, strong opposition. Caught out a couple of times with balls in behind, but he’s not a natural left-back;
5 Featherstone: Did get involved more in the second-half when Pools saw more of the ball, but Pools were second-best in that department
5 Noble: Back on set-piece duty and was hit and miss with delivery. Busy without being influential in the middle of the park and he wasn’t his influential best;
5 James: Worked away, but got nothing from the opposition and didn’t get any back up from the referee when he looked for it
7 Donaldson: Dropped deeper in the second-half to get more of a foothold in midfield and it worked as he became more involved from further back
6 Molyneux: Crowded out by two or three opponents every time he got possession – clearly earmarked as a dangerman by Moors;
6 Kabamba: Up against two big and dominant centre-halves he didn’t get much joy, but kept going and trying to bring others into play.
Subs:
Kitching (for Anderson 72)
Noble (Holohan 82)
(not used): Catterick (gk), Muir.
SOLIHULL MOORS (4-3-3): Boot 5; Carline 7, Williams 7, Gudger 8, Reckord 6; Carter 7, Storer 7, Blissett 7; Osborne 6 (Maxwell 88), Wright 7 (Hylton 73), Yussuf 7 (Sbarra 82). Subs (not used): Stenson, Hawkridge.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Scott Loach, ultimately his mistake proved costly, but Pools would have been sunk by half-time without his heroics.
