SEVERAL former Darlington players face each other when West Auckland travel to Hebburn in the last 16 of the FA Buildbase Vase on Saturday.

It will be a reunion of all sorts for several players who played a major role in Darlington’s success in the Northern League in 2013, and in the EvoStik over the following three years.

Graeme Armstrong, who scored a hat trick in the 7-1 win at Whitby to clinch the EvoStik League title, now plays up front for Hebburn, while Amar Purewal, who was top scorer for Quakers in the 2013 title win, will line up for West.

Also possibly lining up for West are striker David Dowson and defender Chris Hunter, who each won two promotions, but Tom Portas, another medal winner, is struggling with injury.

Saturday’s game was postponed last week because of the bad weather, and the winners are due to meet the winner of the Irlam v Chertsey tie.

West are without suspended trio Steven Snaith, and two more ex Darlington players, Adam Mitchell and Arran Wearmouth, while another two, Nathan Fisher and Anthony Bell as well as defender Dan Parker, are all injured.
