JACK ROSS has made eight changes to his Sunderland side for this evening's Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final clash with Manchester City Under-21s.
Lee Cattermole, Luke O'Nien and Chris Maguire are the only players to retain their places from the side that started Saturday's 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United.
Robbin Ruiter replaces Jon McLaughlin in goal, with Ross naming a completely new-look back four.
Adam Matthews and Bryan Oviedo will play at full-back, with Alim Ozturk partnering Jack Baldwin at centre-half.
O'Nien moves into midfield, where he will play alongside Cattermole and Dylan McGeouch.
Maguire and Duncan Watmore will play either side of Benji Kimpioka, with the youngster set to start as a lone striker.
Josh Maja, whose future continues to be the subject of much conjecture, does not feature in the squad.
