RICHARD MONEY admits he has fallen short of what is expected of him at Hartlepool United.

Pools were humbled by AFC Telford United on Saturday, beaten at home in the FA Trophy by a team a division below.

Since taking over a month ago, Pools have showed signs of change and hopeful improvement, but their time old failings have let them down.

He has won two and lost three of his seven games in charge.

But the honest manager admitted: “Am I doing well enough? Absolutely not. It’s my job to find the answers and I’m not. It’s my job to find the answers and at the minute I’m not.

“There’s been games this season when the team has done well, but it’s tailed off now. It’s not as simplistic as confidence, but that has a lot to do with it.

“There’s been times they have been in a good place, but they aren’t there now. The squad is built to try and play football and we have tried to build on that at times since I came in.

“Can we get results playing that way? You need to be playing really well and full of confidence to do it. I suggest players are at this level because they are inconsistent.

“The first person I will look at is me. I think about what we need to do constantly. I would like to think the players will feel the same.’’

Money has lost centre-half Harvey Rodgers who has retuned to Accrington after his month-long loan spell ended.

He could return to Pools before the transfer window closes, but Money needs additions to his squad.

Pools are close to signing a centre-half to replace Rodgers, but with Andrew Davies having his contract cancelled last week, Money could be seeking a second defender.

The manager and club officials have spoken openly about an 18-month job at the club in terms of looking at next season.

Money feels the rest of this season is with one eye on next campaign with the squad being dismantled and reshaped to be able to compete effectively.

He admitted: “I made one thing perfectly clear after the game on Saturday and that is who wants to be here next season.

“I refuse to put the club through what they are right now. Wholesale changes could come.

“I hope we can make changes this month. Harvey Rodgers has gone back so we need something there for sure. We are close to a centre-back.

“Harvey could yet come back. He doesn’t really want to, but John Coleman wants to regroup and I understand it. Maybe we can look again, but can we wait a couple of weeks.’’

Dundee have confirmed that Davies has suffered a broken foot and will be out for up to ten weeks.
