SUNDERLAND have converted Max Power's loan deal from Wigan Athletic into a permanent transfer.

Power initially moved to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan when he joined in the summer.

However, Sunderland's agreement with Wigan contained a clause enabling them to convert the loan deal into a permanent switch, and they have now triggered the full-time part of the contract.

As a result, Power is not contracted to the Black Cats until the summer of 2021.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a key part of Jack Ross' first-team squad this season, making 22 senior appearances and scoring two goals.
