RICHARD MONEY heads the betting to be appointed the next manager of Hartlepool United.

The experienced former Walsall, Cambridge and Luton boss was interviewed for the position last week and is now 2/1 from 6/4 with Bet Victor to replace Matthew Bates at the Super 6 Stadium.

Lee Bradbury, odds on last week and also interviewed, is now third in the betting rankings.

Money, whose Walsall side pipped Danny Wilson’s Pools to the League Two title in 2007, has experience of taking a club out of the National League, getting Cambridge back into the Football League – experience and knowledge which Pools are desperate for.

He has also led Luton to the play-offs in the division, losing to York in 2010.

Money, a former Liverpool midfielder in the early 80s, has worked at Newcastle United’s Academy and his most recent managerial job was a short stint at Solihull Moors last season.
