1-1: Perez (23, glanced a lovely header beyond Patricio from Rondon’s curling centre)
1-2: Doherty (90, unmarked to nod in the winner when Dubravka’s save from Jota’s effort dropped to him at the back post)
Bookings: Doherty (33, foul); Costa (65, foul); Coady (72, foul); Jota (74, foul); Bennett (80, foul)
Sending-off: Yedlin (57, professional foul)

NEWCASTLE UNITED (3-4-2-1):
7 Dubravka: Made a few strong stops and was clearly frustrated to concede the late Wolves winner;
5 Lascelles: Shaky at times and looks rusty after his lay-off so will need to find his best to stay in the team
4 Fernandez: Given a difficult start and guilty of partial blame for the opener despite improving before he was replaced
6 Clark: The pick of the centre-backs but was hardly outstanding on an afternoon
4 Yedlin: Regardless of whether it was a red card, he was at fault a few times including in that instance
5 Diame: Showed some nice touches but after a decent early cross to Rondon he faded
7 Ki: Spread the ball around well and looked like he enjoyed it in the middle
5 Ritchie: Asked to play wing-back and never shirked his responsibilities, but Doherty caught him out a few times
7 PEREZ: Took his goal superbly and always looked confident on the ball
6 Atsu: Couldn’t be faulted for his effort but still lacking in and around the area
7 Rondon: A crucial factor in Newcastle’s goal and led the line like a true centre-forward
Subs:
Manquillo (for Fernandez 46): Struggled to contain Jota. 5
Joselu (for Rondon 87)
Kenedy (for Atsu 89)
(not used): Woodman (gk), Dummett, Muto, Longstaff.
WOLVES (3-4-2-1): Patricio 6; Bennett 7, Coady 7, Boly 6; Doherty 8, Saiss 6, Neves 5 (Jimenez 60, 6), Vinagre 5; Traore 6 (Gibbs-White 60, 5), JOTA 8; Costa 6 (Moutinho 76). Subs (not used): Ruddy (gk), Cavaleiro, Dendoncker, Bonatini.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Diogo Jota – scored the first, created the winner and always a threat to the Newcastle defence.
