Spennymoor are hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to six matches when they travel to Derbyshire to face Alfreton today.

Moors haven’t lost since the middle of October when they lost 4-1 at Brackley, and since then they have drawn with Curzon Ashton and Guiseley, and beaten York City, Chorley and Hednesford in the Trophy.

However, Moors were due to play Kidderminster last week, but the game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at the Brewery Field, which meant that Moors dropped to sixth place, a point behind AFC Telford and Altrincham.

They go into the match on the back of a great 8-2 home win over Hednesford in the FA Trophy a fortnight ago, but midfielder Rob Ramshaw will be suspended after receiving his fifth booking of the season against Hednesford. However, defender Stephen Brogan, who missed that game, returns to the squad.

Before last week’s postponed game against Kidderminster, assistant manager Tommy Miller wanted his players to pick up where they left off, and he’ll be wanting the same again for the trip to the Impact Arena where Alfreton have lost four times at home this season in the league.

“Alfreton will be a tough test but one we are looking forward to.” he said. “ Their manager Billy Heath knows what it takes to get out of this league having guided FC Halifax to promotion a couple of years ago, and I’m sure they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. After the disappointment of last week’s game being called off, the lads are chomping at the bit and have trained and prepared well this week.”

They are in 13th place in the table, and in midweek won 2-0 at Ashton United, when former Darlington player Reece Styche scored.

Moors have re-arranged their home game with Stockport for this Tuesday December 11th at the Brewery Field, kick off 7.45. The previous game was postponed because of Stockport’s FA Cup commitments. This means that Moors will have three successive home games, as they host Barwell in the first round of the FA Trophy on 15th December, and Boston in the league on 22nd December.

They have also released striker Craig Ellison, who has been playing on loan with Ryhope CW in the Northern League.

In the EvoStik League Premier, Whitby, whose midfielder Junior Mondal had a trial at Forest Green in midweek, are at Hednesford and South Shields have a big game away to leaders Nantwich In the EvoStik League East, Marske go to Carlton in Nottingham, and Morpeth are at home to Cleethorpes.
