How did the players fare in Newcastle's 2-1 win at Burnley?

BURNLEY (4-4-2):

Hart 6; Lowton 5, Mee 4, Long 5, Taylor 5; Lennon 4, Cork 5, Defour 5 (Hendrick 82), Brady 4 (Barnes 82); VOKES 6, Wood 6.

Subs (not used): Heaton (gk), Bardsley, Gibson, Westwood, Vydra.

NEWCASTLE (5-4-1):

8 Dubravka: Made a number of crucial saves, with the pick seeing him turn Wood’s first-half shot over the crossbar

7 Yedlin: Is ideally suited to a wing-back role and impressed at both ends of the field as he patrolled the right flank

7 Schar: Made a number of important clearances, especially in the second half, and looks an excellent summer addition

9 FERNANDEZ: Dominated the heart of the Newcastle backline and spent the entire evening heading balls out of his own box

7 Clark: Made a goalscoring return to the starting line-up and defended impressively, even though he lost Vokes for Burnley’s goal

7 Ritchie: Will not want to see his second-half miss again, but didn’t allow his head to drop and did well as a makeshift left wing-back

8 Kenedy: Produced one of his best displays of the season as he dropped off to win the ball and feed those in front of him

8 Diame: Bossed the game in the first half, and launched a series of counter-attacks as Newcastle broke to good effect

7 Ki: Was neat and tidy at the heart of midfield, and helped take the sting out of the game in a frantic closing spell

7 Perez: Ran himself into the ground as he strove to support Rondon and produced some neat passes in the final third

7 Rondon: Led the line to good effect, even though he was isolated on occasion, and looks to be back to the peak of his form

Subs:

Joselu (for Rondon, 71)

Hayden (for Kenedy, 90)

(not used): Woodman (gk), Manquillo, Murphy, Shelvey, Atsu, Joselu.

Man Of The Match: FEDERICO FERNANDEZ – He might still be waiting for his first Newcastle goal, but everything else about the Argentinian’s night went perfectly to plan. He won every aerial challenge he was presented with.
