Clark replaces the injured Paul Dummett in the only change to the side that started the 2-1 win over Bournemouth that preceded the international break.
With Jamaal Lascelles still ruled out with a calf problem, Fabian Schar continues alongside Federico Fernandez at centre-half.
Ki Sung-yueng continues alongside Mo Diame in midfield, with Jonjo Shelvey only named on the substitutes' bench.
With Yoshinori Muto still unvailable because of injury, Ayoze Perez will play in the 'number ten' position behind lone striker Salomon Rondon.
