Sunday’s Aintree winner Frodon was introduced into the betting at 16/1 with the sponsors for the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham next month and the entries for this valuable and prestigious handicap are announced later today with the weights next Wednesday.

Bryony Frost was quite exceptional on the horse at the weekend and she really is a rare talent in the saddle. Nicky Henderson’s Rather Be heads the market at 8/1 ahead of today’s entries with BetVictor.

James Doyle rides the once-raced Kingman colt Dalaalaat (12.40) for William Haggas in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum in the opening division of the Golden Horn Maiden Stakes at Nottingham. The juvenile was backed into 3/1 on debut at Sandown last month and has been given six weeks to get over what was an encouraging but not spectacular first start. I would hope to see a different animal today with that experience behind him.

Tarte Tropezienne (3.10) doesn’t have the best of draws in stall nine (of ten) in the 1m 6f handicap but she can race from the same mark as when runner up over course and distance a fortnight ago when she ran a cracking race given she was very keen.

James Doyle is in the saddle on the Ian Williams trained filly and the Doyler really could have a very good day with any number of good rides for the jockey who has been outstanding this season.

Nevada (4.10) was well backed at Chelmsford last time but had a wide draw and was bumped on leaving the stalls. In the circumstances he did very well to finish second and he can go one better from the same mark in the amateur riders’ event.

The five-year-old has another poor draw to overcome in stall 12 this afternoon but will be ridden by leading amateur Simon Walker and he can give Steve Gollings’ a welcome winner.

Ideological (5.45) won at Kempton over today’s course and distance on debut and lost little in defeat – although she did flash her tail under pressure – when runner up at Newcastle last time. She is taken to return to winning ways for Roger Varian with David Egan – who was in the saddle on debut – back in the saddle.

I wouldn’t want to see Divin Bere (6.45) get too far back in the near two-mile Handicap but he remains well treated on the best of his hurdles form and I hope he can follow up his recent Bath win from a 6lbs higher mark. Meghan Nicholls takes the ride for her father Paul.

At Fakenham, the exciting Didtheyleaveyououtto (1.00) makes his hurdles debut for Nick Gifford whose yard had a welcome winner at Cheltenham last weekend. The selection was beaten 14 lengths in the Champion Bumper having travelled like a class act on ground – for a son of Presenting – that would have been softer than ideal. He might be more of an Aintree horse than Cheltenham but his first start over timber is eagerly anticipated.

There is a cracking Novice Chase and Knocknanuss was too keen for his own good when taking a crashing fall at Plumpton earlier in the month. He remains a horse of potential but Movewiththetimes (2.30) has valuable chase experience and was the best of this talented bunch over hurdles. He was well backed for his reappearance at Cheltenham on Saturday but was an 11th hour defector as he pulled out lame.
