DANNY Wilson has been at pains to point out that there is more to today's game than Adam Boyd but there is little doubt plenty of attention will be focused on the Leyton Orient striker.

Boyd today faces Hartlepool United for the first time since leaving his hometown club last year.

And he is in the sort of form which persuaded Luton Town to shell out £500,000 for the striker in the summer of 2006.

A miserable year at Kenilworth Road saw him leave on a free for Orient but he's now in the sort of form which brought him 60 goals in 129 outings at Victoria Park.

Five goals this season have helped Orient top the early table and while Wilson knows all about the striker, he insists there is more to worry about than Boyd.

"Of course we all know Boydy, he's a very good player and scored many goals here,'' admitted Wilson, whose side are six points and two places behind Orient.

"He's playing well now and it's our job to make sure we get three points for Hartlepool United, not to keep watch on Adam Boyd all day, although we know he's a threat.

"He is a good player on his day, no doubt about it, but they are not a one-man team - they have one or two others in their side who can make a difference.

"Our preparations will be as good as ever and Adam Boyd will come into that.

"They have started well, they brought in some new players and they have gelled well. We will respect Adam, like we respect all their players, we know he's a good player who can score goals, but there's more to Orient than him. But he's on a hot streak at the moment and things are going for him.''

Boyd, who has several family and friends staying at his house for the weekend, admitted: "I would give anything for a goal, not only because everyone likes to score against their old club but because unless we get a result I will be getting plenty of stick off the family.

"I'm really looking forward to the game now and it was the first fixture I looked out for.

"I had some great times at Hartlepool and there may be a chance that I might even go back to play for them one day.''

Boyd's former Pools strike partner, Joel Porter, is in line to start today after an impressive cameo last week.

The Aussie replaced Ian Moore in the draw with Swindon Town.

"Joel has done well of late and hopefully his injury problems are in the past now,'' said Wilson.

"It's a squad game and whoever gets the nod on the day will get their chance to impress.

"It's not favouritism on any part, it's about selecting the team on the day.''

"It's a top-of-the-table clash, but it's early days.

"It means little right now. After eight games they could be at the bottom and we could be top - we aren't taking any notice of the table yet.

"But we go there very confident and are looking forward to it. It's not about being top of the league right now, it's about being there later on come May.

"We go to Orient to try to get something out of the game, hopefully a win.

"We tackle every game in that manner. Irrespective of who is involved on Saturday, the squad is there all season long and will be used.''
