SUNDERLAND should have leading scorer Josh Maja available again for this Saturday’s visit of Southend United.

The Black Cats, who have had their FA Cup first round tie at Port Vale moved to November 11 (2.30pm), missed Maja at Doncaster on Tuesday when they still managed to win a third game in a row.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has reported that the nine-goal front-man should be fine to present him with a selection poser against Southend. Maja has been struggling with an ankle problem and had to be withdrawn at Shrewsbury last weekend.

Ross said: “Glenn Loovens trained today for the first time but it is too early for him to be involved, but Josh should train tomorrow and will be back involved for Saturday. Other than that it is as you were apart from Bryan Oviedo’s suspension being over too.”

Sunderland, who can move into second spot if they beat Southend, have learned that their FA Cup trip to Port Vale will be on BT Sport.

Sunderland were drawn with the League Two outfit in Monday's draw and it will be their first visit to the Valiants since 1998.

Sunderland, who will pocket £75,000 as a result of selection, will earn a further £36,000 if they can beat Port Vale.

Sunderland’s trip to Morecambe in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday, November 13 will be unchanged.
