CALLUM Howe scored his fifth goal of an impressive season as Harrogate continued to make life in the National League look easy with a 2-0 win at Ebbsfleet.

Simon Weaver's Town have barely drawn breath since promotion and registered a ninth win of the campaign in Kent.

They had Howe to thank once more, the defender heading in a 30th-minute corner from Joe Leesley who now has ten assists for the season.

Myles Weston volleyed over for Ebbsfleet in response, while Howe hit over at the other end.

Aaron Williams then added a second off George Thomson's 72nd-minute pass, scoring for the second game in a row as Harrogate maintained their unbeaten away record.

Harrogate: Belshaw; Burrell, Howe, Emmett (Agnew 87), Kitching, Langmead, Falkingham, Thomson, Leesley, Muldoon (Beck 66), Williams. Subs (not used): Thewlis, Cracknell, Kerry.

TWO goals in three first-half minutes helped Gateshead ease to a 2-0 National League win over struggling Dagenham.

Steven Rigg got them going 17 minutes in, scoring from close range after Robbie Tinkler hammered a cross across the box.

Three minutes later it was 2-0, Tom White scoring from just inside the area, turning and hitting in a deflected effort for a first competitive goal for the Heed.

Former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson had a header cleared off the line in the second half as Gateshead looked to press home their advantage, but two goals were enough.

Gateshead: Pears; Hunter, Kerr, Mellish, White, Barrow, Williamson, Tinkler, Olley, Rigg, Boden (Salkeld 90). Subs (not used): Foden, Forbes, Devitt, Molyneux.

YORK City are hoping skipper Joe Tait will recover from a hamstring problem in time for next weekend’s National League North trip to Southport.

Tait was substituted in the first half of this afternoon’s 3-0 FA Cup third qualifying round home victory over St Ives Town, with Russ Penn replacing him and Josh Law moving back into defence after starting the game as a midfielder.

A second Jake Wright goal in as many games had earlier given the hosts a ninth-minute lead, while Jordan Burrow bagged a second-half brace to put the tie to bed.

City caretaker boss Sam Collins said: “I think it was more tightness in his hamstring than anything else with Tait, but we’ll need to assess it. We’ve got good options though and I thought Russ Penn did really well when he came on.”

Teenage debutant Nathan Dyer, meanwhile, escaped serious injury when visiting defender Sam Cartwright jumped into a cautioned challenge that saw the youth-team graduate hobble off, meaning Collins’ team played out the closing stages with ten men, having made all three substitutes.

York City: Bartlett; Tait (Penn 34), Bencherif, Newton; Dyer, Law, Heslop, Harris, Ferguson; Burrow (Parkin 57), Wright (Kempster 57). Subs (not used): Parslow, Moke, Langstaff.
