MIDDLESBROUGH (4-3-3):
6 Randolph: Made a couple of stops in the first half to keep the Swans at bay and handled most things his way;
8 SHOTTON: Got down the line plenty to send over some excellent deliveries and throws
6 Flint: Did what he had to do and never really looked ruffled against the Routledge and McBurnie combination
7 Ayala: Looked a calming influence again whenever things arrived his way
6 Friend: Had to deal with a change of role half way through the first half and did it well
6 Clayton: Kept things ticking over again in the middle even if he wasn’t as influential as he has been recently
5 Howson: Unable to get himself involved in the final third as much as he would like
6 Saville: Clipped the bar from distance in the first half and has brought balance to midfield
6 Downing: Went close early on with a distance drive and played well in a couple of positions
5 Assombalonga: Unable to make his mark like he did in midweek although did force the keeper into a save
6 Braithwaite: Most of his good work was outside the box but he still looked impressive on the ball
Subs:
Besic (for Saville 59): Tried his luck a couple of times but to no avail. 5
Hugill (for Assombalonga 69): Didn’t trouble the keeper. 5
McQueen (for Downing 73)
(not used): Konstantopoulos (gk), Batth, Fry, McNair.
SWANSEA CITY (4-2-3-1): Mulder 7; Roberts 6, Rodon 7, van der Hoorn 7, Olsson 6; Naughton 6, GRIMES 7; McKay 6 (Dyer 78), Byers 5 (Carroll 46, 5), Routledge 6 (James 61, 5); McBurnie 5. Subs (not used): Nordfeldt, Carter-Vickers, Dhanda, Fulton.
MAN OF THE MATCH: RYAN Shotton – sent over a number of deliveries from the right to cause the Swans problems, it was just a shame no one converted.
