RAFA BENITEZ insists Newcastle United will get the results to climb out of trouble after their winless start to the Premier League season extended to five matches.

The Magpies were left to rue two goals from Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil in ten second half minutes to put Arsenal on track for a third win in a row.

Despite Ciaran Clark’s stoppage-time header pulling Newcastle back into it, the Gunners had already done enough to secure the points on Tyneside.

But Benitez claims Newcastle have what it takes to turn things around, and is encouraged by the fact they have lost by the odd goal against Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal in their five match run without a win.

Asked if he is worried, Benitez said: "No. It's a difficult time because you have to win games. I'm not concerned because I know my team and I know that we can do well.

“We've run all the top sides we've played close so far this season. Arsenal had two shots on target and they scored two goals.

"The fans they see from the beginning they can see the picture. To lose by a narrow margin against the top sides is something we could expect but having said that we're not happy about it."

Xhaka’s 25-yard free-kick in the 49th minute was the pick of the three goals, while Ozil beat Martin Dubravka with a tidy finish after Arsenal pushed on after the restart.

Benitez, whose side are in the bottom three with just a point, said: "Two moments of quality changed the game. We did enough in the first half to score and show we can compete against this kind of team but it was hard once we conceded the two goals and our goal came too late.

"It's always about a short blanket because when we attacked to try to get back into the game we left ourselves open to the counter-attack.”
