SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):
7 McLaughlin: Showed strong handling until late and made a fine penalty stop as well as other saves;
4 Matthews: Decent enough on the ball but conceded a penalty and could have been sent off;
5 Baldwin: Not his most convincing display but still managed to make strong tackles and should have scored
6 Loovens: Hardly outstanding in a defence that looked suspect at times but still did reasonably well and almost scored
6 Hume: Had a better first half than second and looks a real prospect;
6 McGeouch: Had a slow start to the game but then had more of an impact as the minutes wore on
6 Cattermole: Looked keen to do well and influenced things in the middle alongside McGeouch
5 Gooch: Ought to have scored early on and that would have changed things considerably
7 HONEYMAN: Sent over a lovely pass for Maja’s equaliser and always looked to get involved
5 Maguire: Didn’t influence the game as much has he needed to and was replaced just after the break;
7 Maja: Led the line well, did what was expected of him and scored again
Subs
Sinclair (for Maguire 51): A few decent touches without looking at his best after injury. 5
Wyke (for Maja 62): Unable to provided the finishing touch he did a week earlier. 5
