MIDDLESBROUGH have completed the double capture of George Saville and Danny Batth on the deadline day for Football League loans.

Saville has arrived on Teesside initially on loan but that will become a permanent deal in January when he will join for a fee believed to be in the region of £7m.

The Millwall midfielder, who only joined the Lions for £350,000 a year ago, has been a wanted man by Tony Pulis and he has finally got his man after failing to get the deal done on deadline day.

He will compete with plenty midfielders in the Middlesbrough squad, including recent signings Mo Besic and Paddy McNair.

Batth, 27, is an extra defensive option to play in the heart of the defence and joins from Wolves on a season long loan. He is the Premier League new-boys captain but has found himself down the pecking order following a summer of transfer business at Molineux.

While Middlesbrough, who also signed Sam McQueen from Southampton this week on loan, added the three players to their ranks, they have not pulled off a deal for the pacy winger they wanted.

A proposed deal to bring back Albert Adomah from Aston Villa broke down, while Yannic Bolasie opted for the Villans earlier this month. An attempt to bring in Crystal Palace's Jason Puncheon did not come off.

Despite being unable to land the winger he wanted, Pulis still granted Marvin Johnson permission to join Sheffield United on loan.

Middlesbrough could yet lose unsettled Martin Braithwaite to Girona or Leganes today, with Spain’s transfer window open until 11pm tonight – after the top two tussle with Leeds at Elland Road. He has, though, been named on the bench to face Leeds.
