NORTHALLERTON born 4X and BMX rider, Scott Beaumont was in action again recently at the National 4X Championships in Falmouth as he sought to build upon the success that he enjoyed at last month’s 4X World Championships in Italy.

Having finished in a remarkable seventh place at the age of 40 there and going into the national championships having won the last six straight titles at the event, Beaumont was looking to make it a magnificent seven and nine titles overall – and he did just that in resounding style!

Commenting on his racing weekend he explained: “The track in Cornwall really suits my riding style. I’ve had plenty of success there before and felt confident and excited going into the weekend.

“From the moment practice started on Friday I was able to get the track worked out pretty quickly and with blue skies greeting us on Saturday morning I was ready to race.”

In the timed qualifying, Beaumont was able to ride a perfect lap and take the fastest time, vitally important in giving him a top lane pick on the start line for every race thereafter.

In the opening race, with a place in the quarter-finals at stake, he made a great start able to win the race leading from start to finish. Making his best start of the day, that theme continued in the semis as red-hot Beaumont booked himself a place in the final.

Telling the tale of his final he said: “I stuck with the inside gate and made another great start to ride to what I think was my best lap of the day.

"Crossing the line to take the win and the national championship title for 2018 I was stoked and punched the air with delight.

“I can’t thank my sponsors enough and especially USN sports nutrition who are instrumental in making these race wins happen!”
