DURHAM County Golf Union has a new member of the board – European Tour star Graeme Storm.

Durham have offered their congratulations to the ex-County player on being elected a Vice President at the annual Annual General Meeting.

Storm was given the role in recognition of his achievements in both the amateur and professional ranks, which has included becoming British Amateur, French Open and South Africa Open champion.

The 39-year-old couldn’t make the AGM because he was on Tour. His wife Sara accepted the badge on his behalf.

Storm’s acceptance message to the Union was: “It is an honour to receive this honour. As a former county player myself I am privileged to become vice-president and look forward to supporting and working with the union for years to come.”

ENGLAND Golf will hold a Worldwide Handicap System workshop at George Washington GC on Tuesday, May 22 to brief clubs on proposals for the new system to be introduced in 2020.

This is a must for all clubs to attend so golf clubs are urged to get their handicap/competition secretary to register quickly.
