NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-4-1-1):

5 Darlow: Made some important saves but his confidence took a knock after the penalty went in;

5 Yedlin: Didn’t get to attack as he would like and that is the strongest part of his game, with Palace regularly attacking his side

6 LASCELLES: Recovered from a first half mistake to turn in a performance better than his fellow defenders

4 Clark: Had defended well until he pulled the shirt of Benteke but still made an important stop

5 Dummett: Fully committed like you would expect from him and he was booked for an awful tackle in the second half;

5 Ritchie: Made an important tackle to prevent a goal in the first half but fans would like to see him do more in the final third

6 Shelvey: Was the Magpies midfielder who looked to make things happen but he too faded after the restart

6 Diame: Allowed to grab his second goal of the season and a bright start saw him fade as the minutes went by

5 Kenedy: Didn’t have the sort of impact he enjoyed on his debut even if he still forced the keeper into a save

6 Perez: On the periphery in the second half after a strong opening when he played some lovely passes

5 Gayle: Worked hard enough without providing the presence required but there was no alternatives

Subs:

Atsu (for Kenedy 57): Tried a few things in a bid to get Newcastle going. 5

Hayden (for Diame 65): Brought some freshness to the midfield. 5

Merino (for Perez 79)

(not used): Dubravka (gk), Murphy, Manquillo, Lejeune.

MAN OF THE MATCH: LUKA Milivojevic - struck the penalty but also made Palace tick in the middle
