ADAM FORSHAW has left Middlesbrough to join Leeds United in a deal the West Yorkshire club claims is worth £4.5m.

Forshaw has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Elland Road, and is set to make his Leeds debut in Saturday's game with Millwall.

The midfielder was offered an opportunity to join Cardiff City, but instead opted to move to Leeds as he looks to kick-start a career that has stalled in the last six months.

Forshaw made 34 appearances during Boro's successful promotion campaign in the 2015-16 season, and was rewarded with a four-year contract in the summer of 2016.

His best performances in a Boro shirt came in the first half of last season, but he while he made 34 appearances in the top-flight, he was unable to prevent the Teessiders suffering relegation to the Championship.

He featured in the first four games of this season, but found himself sidelined under Garry Monk.

He has been unable to win back his place under Tony Pulis, and was told he was surplus to the new manager's plans earlier this month.
