SINCE you started printing a weekly court round up I don’t just suspect, I now know the world’s gone mad!
A driver who took a car was fined £80; that’s less than the current speeding fine. For driving without licence and insurance he was required to pay a further £119 – way less than I have to pay for my car insurance.
A further report stated that another defendant was required to pay £128 for stealing almost £2,000 worth of goods from various stores. He received a suspended sentence thus walking free from court leaving ten retailers with losses! Seems that crime does pay.
