CONCERNING Shamima Begum, the girl who travelled to Syria with her two friends. At their age they should not have been allowed to travel without written permission from each parent – which would have been checked to prevent fraud.

Then we have newspapers latching onto trendy phrases “Caliphate Paradise” – which has never been explained; the reverse of paradise would seem nearer the mark.

Maybe she ought to be back in the UK, under regular surveillance, and prohibited from ever again leaving the UK, whether prosecuted for terrorist activity and jail sentence is obviously up to the courts.

Politically our handling of this matter is poor judgement.
