MORE than a dozen Arriva drivers at its Durham depot have tested Covid positive, causing some services to be cancelled (Echo, Jan 30).
In the early days of the virus, union leaders were quick to say that drivers were at risk, being in the front line.
They need to rethink where they are most likely have caught the virus. My guess is that they have spread it amongst themselves while huddled in groups of up to ten outside of their office in North Road. Very few have masks on, as they are enjoying a cigarette on the pavement and causing an obstruction to pedestrians who are trying to adhere to the two metre rule.
Maybe Arriva management need to lay down the law to protect their drivers, and everyone else.
