I JUST don’t get it. In the case of the “level playing field” in the Brexit negotiations, Boris Johnson was reduced to demanding the “right” for the UK to subsidise export industries, so undercutting cross Channel competition. Diplomatically, it was a non-starter but also ideologically, it was a bizarre form of Conservatism.

Surely a Tory aping Churchill should welcome a regulated free market and not want freedom to corrupt one?

No one in the Brexit camp has explained why the idiocy of no deal is to anyone’s gain. Why is no deal better than a bad deal exactly?

Only Johnson can stop this. And he must.
