I UNDERSTAND that the Government is to use celebrities to encourage people to have the Covid-19 vaccine when it becomes available. Anything that encourages people to have the vaccination has my full support.

However, I have never understood why so many people put so much faith in the opinions of “stars”. I will treat these people with respect when they are talking about the field in which they work, but on any other subject they are just as much amateurs as the rest of us, and personally I prefer to listen to the professionals.

There are going to be those who refuse to be vaccinated for various reasons, and if they, and/or their family members, die of Covid-19, don’t expect me to shed a tear.

However, if it can be shown that they have infected anyone who subsequently dies of Covid-19, I trust that they will be prosecuted for murder, because that is what they will be guilty of.

Finally, are people aware that EU countries will be paying $17 for their doses of vaccine, whereas we will be paying $32?

For enough doses to treat people in the UK, that’s well over £0.5bn!

Yet another of the costs of Brexit (with many more to come in the new year, whatever happens regarding an EU deal).
