JOHN GILMORE “Codswallop” (HAS, Nov 20) completely misses the main point of my letter about over-fishing (HAS, Nov 16).
That point was not where such fishing is done, but how it is done, by brutal intensive methods that are not only unsustainable in terms of catching fish, but which ravage the sea-bed and involve the wholesale destruction of other marine wildlife.
That is something which should be of the direst concern to every person on this planet, including Mr Gilmore.
As regards Nigel Farage, I did not mention him. I am not remotely interested in him and I am certainly not reliant on him – or for that matter Mr Gilmore himself – for my information about the current plight of our oceans.
Tony Kelly, Crook.
