IN previous letters to HAS, I have reflected on Durham Constabulary’s apparent abysmal record with regard to the issue of speed tickets:
2017: 7,768 issued (average daily issue of 20)
2018: 9,602 issue (average daily issue of 26)
2019: 21,724 issued (average daily issue of 60)
The above figures relate to the whole of the Durham police force area.
I have recently obtained the forces figures for the year April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020, when there were 10,937 tickets issued (average daily issue 30). Of the 10,937 issued, 998 were cancelled.
I have also been informed that there is no record of any speed ticket being issued in respect of the C60 road through High Pittington.
E McKeown, High Pittington.
