IT is great that Hear All Sides is well read and brings a range of opinions, and I was especially pleased to see the reply to my letter regarding Formula 1 and Lewis Hamilton from David Metcalf (HAS, Nov 20).
He clearly is a fan of Hamilton, and, due respect, he certainly knows a lot about him and F1.
I, though, was comparing drivers of the past with those of today. With today’s technology, driving is different and of course Hamilton has the ability but also the best of cars.
Quite a few people now find F1 boring and predictable.
Mr Metcalf says that all sportspeople want to win. However, not all can win, and when they lose, in most cases the contestants will congratulate each other. Unfortunately, Lewis does not come over as this type of person.
Mr Metcalf’s last comment really surprised me. He presumed that because Lewis had found a voice outside of racing this had irked me. I cannot see any reason why he made this comment.
