THERE seems a distinct possibility banks are to charge savers for looking after their cash – and this after “theft” interest rates.
The Department of Work and Pensions has forced folks with pensions or benefits to go through a bank rather than the more efficient Post Office system.
Are we now to be charged by our bank to collect our DWP payments? It would be a kind of tax on pension/unemployment cash – difficult to believe.
I can see massive cash withdrawals and people burying it in the garden.
Many folks on a pension or benefits run their account down to zero each week, so where would the bank get its charge from?
Stoppage without a client’s written permission would surely be an offence.
Folks have a right to be returned to a Post Office account.
