ELEVEN years of this billionaire-backed party in power has starved the NHS of funding, and outsourced NHS services to companies run by Tory backers, donors and friends, and a string of poor decisions on Covid-19 has seen the UK with the second highest per population death rate in the world.

We have the highest number of deaths among frontline health professional staff in the world yet Boris Johnson thinks we are “world-beating” and a success.

But no guilt, no apology and no pay rise for our hero nurses from the worst PM this country has ever had.

I believe Sir John Major, former PM was spot on in saying: “The concept that the people leading the Brexit campaign care for the NHS is a rather odd one. I seem to remember Michael Gove wanting to privatise it, Boris Johnson wanted to charge people for using it and Ian Duncan Smith wanted a social insurance system. The NHS is about as safe with them as a pet hamster would be with a hungry python.”

I am angry that 650 of my colleagues, 25,000 care home patients and thousands more have died due to lack of PPE, and a functioning test, track and trace service.

Rishi Sunak and his colleagues side-tracked the NHS by giving billions to private companies with no experience in the health arena, especially during a pandemic.

We are paying a heavy price which is set to continue.
