ACROSS the UK there has been more than 14,000 shop closures, to date, this year – a 40 per cent increase on last year.
The retail experts finally admit to a saturation of high street shops, given online/out of town shopping (also at saturation).
There is now large-scale talk of change of use applications for conversion to “in town” flats or apartments.
Myself and others advocated such a policy decades ago – so much for UK economic experts.
It is inevitable that supermarkets will have to be zoned and many closed, to drive folks back into towns.
