A LAD of about 14 burst into a shop, with no mask and no helmet. He’d parked a powerful looking auto-scooter outside.

Ignoring queues or distancing, he plonked stuff on the counter, at which point the assistant told him to push off and he went back to the shelves.

I was telling the assistant that those scooters were on trial and did 30mph – the lad came back saying they did 45mph.

I left the assistant dealing with him, but tests with these scooters were being done in Los Angeles last year and the general opinion was they are obviously dangerous.

Surely as they are capable of such speeds, they should be subject to the same legislation we all suffer, ie road tax, age limits etc, but especially not on paved areas as this boy was.
