“TREASURY branch in Darlington”. This is the headline to an article in my Sunday paper.
A Treasury “campus” is set to be built near Darlington as part of plans to move civil servants outside London.
Rishi Sunak has told allies he wants to see leading officials at the northern campus regularly.
We have splendid transport links here (railway station, airport, motorway) and the cattle market has now moved away.
It’s obvious Mr Sunak would like to utilise the vacant mart site for his Treasury offices.
Malcolm Dunstone, Darlington.
