I REALLY enjoyed reading Chris Lloyd’s Echo Memories on Langley Park (Echo, Sept 26) but I was surprised that it did not mention that very good 1988 album by Prefab Sprout From Langley Park to Memphis featuring the McAloon brothers Paddy and Martin from nearby Witton Gilbert and Wendy Smith from Middlesbrough.

The album made No5 in the UK charts and also included contributions from Stevie Wonder and Pete Townsend.

Some years ago I was privileged to meet Sir Bobby Robson and we talked about his time in Langley Park, football and music.

He was very intuitive about Prefab Sprout and told me that he was a regular at the garage run by the McAloons’ father who was a former maths teacher at Langley Park School.

I read that Paddy and Martin often helped out in the family business.

You could say that garage music was born there.
