WELL, after all the angst, Boro have retained their Championship status, defeating Sheffield Wednesday with a last ditch winner. In the end, they stayed up on merit and didn’t have to rely on the failure of others, or an unhappy club having points deducted.
I’d have been rather disappointed if Boro had only stayed up because of the likely deduction of 12 points from Wigan; a very heavy burden for that club to bear, let alone their players and supporters.
Just remember how dejected we were when, in 1997, just three deducted points caused our relegation from the Premier League.
Under our new veteran manager, Neil Warnock, Boro thoroughly deserve to stay up and will surely go on to more glorious achievements next season. Up the Boro!
