WHAT a lot of white cars we see on our roads these days. We, too, have a white car. Not by choice but because when we bought it new five years ago if we wanted any other colour than white or black it would have cost us an additional £500, which we readily declined. Why should there be this extra cost?

Other unavoidable extra costs at the time were for delivery from manufacturer to the selling garage, metallic paint, first registration fee, administration fee.

We notice too, online, that the average garage labour cost per hour in County Durham is £55 to £60. We are lucky. It is higher in most other parts of the country. How with all the expenses, wages and overheads in the world can garages possibly justify such charges? Probably because they know they have most of us over a barrel.
