DARLINGTON Council say they are already pursuing “quick wins”, such as planting trees
They forgot to state that these small newly planted tree saplings will take many, many years to offer us help towards getting anywhere near their promised target being carbon neutral by 2050 or are they maybe just giving this some lip service to keep concerned residents quiet for a while as hundreds if not thousands more healthy good carbon storing trees will come down to keep the new home builders happy.
Perhaps if they stopped felling healthy large mature trees to make way for large unsustainable and unwanted housing developments they would help reduce the towns carbon footprint instead of trying to increase it.
The bigger the size of our town the bigger its carbon footprint will be. What part of that are they not getting?
David Clark, Darlington.
