THERE is a saying “don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.
Perhaps the World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu is unfamiliar with it.
President Trump has decided to terminate his country’s relationship with the WHO, complaining that China has total control over it despite only paying $40m per year compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450m a year.
Mr Trump explained that the US detailed the reforms that the WHO must make.
They refused to do so.
With China the focus of investigations into the coronavirus and their apparent failure to fully co-operate, I hope the UK follows suit along with other democratic countries.
Mr Trump should follow up by kicking the United Nations out of New York and sending it to some other country that can afford to pay for its accommodation and is happy to tolerate the UN’s endless stream of bile aimed at the USA, UK and Israel.
