THERE have been suggestions that Boris Johnson is a new Winston Churchill.
However, in my opinion the Prime Minister he most resembles is Neville Chamberlain, arguably the UK’s worst ever PM (at least until now?).
Brexit is Boris Johnson’s “Munich Agreement”, the magic thing that was (or is) going to make everything all right.
Just as the Conservatives were responsible for the fact that the UK was not ready for war when it came in 1939, they are also responsible for the fact that we were not prepared for the coronavirus.
Finally, just as Neville Chamberlain proved useless as a war leader, so has Boris Johnson has proved useless and divisive in leading our country against the coronavirus.
A new Churchill? I think not.
