BEFORE we all get too pious about what Cummings did or didn’t do I would like to make a few points.
Firstly, he wasn’t the only one who bugged out of London when panic set in.
There were members of the Royal family who did and at least one local MP who admits to returning to Darlington, on a train no less, with suspected Covid-19.
Secondly, Cummings was instrumental at the election in persuading Boris to concentrate and to convince the Red Wall he was going to level up funding for the North-East.
It worked and if he still retains his job, I hope he will hold Boris’ backside to the fire on this. Good news for us if it happens.
Chris Greenwell, Darlington
DO the actions of Dominic Cummings comply with the meaning of “the bold common sense” of Britain defeating coronavirus, referred to by Boris Johnson in his TV speech of May 10?
And, do the actions of Mr Cummings meet the civil service codes of conduct “of acting professionally at all times”?
