HAVING sat through Dominic Cummings’s tedious justification of his trips to Durham and Barnard Castle, I’m left with the impression of his overweening arrogance.
He explained away his decision to leave his London home, and explained his trip to Barnard Castle as a test drive before driving back to London.
Quite by chance he ended up in the attractive surroundings of the river bank in Barnard Castle. Surely a logical test drive for the motorway route to London would have been to take the A1(M) to, say, Scotch Corner. Of course, Scotch Corner is not as nice as the Desmesnes in Barney. He described it as the edge of the town, but had could only get there from the very centre of the town.
The great majority of the population will still believe that he either bent or broke the rules and when asked if he’d considered resigning he said no! Clearly Boris Johnson lacks the power to sack him, so there is no reason for him to resign. Why would he sack himself?
Phil Hunt, Barningham.
