I HAVE been holding back writing this letter for some time thinking that somehow things would improve and things would return to something near normal.

On behalf of the tens of thousands of people awaiting news about their expected treatment or operation before coronavirus interrupted everything, when can we see patients with cancer and other serious illnesses get back into the NHS system to sort out their health problems.

Like lots of others I am still awaiting an operation that failed when I was in hospital February 11 this year.

I rang the hospital a few weeks later to get an update as they had said I would be back within two weeks but all they could say was that I was still on their list.

Lots of people are worried that their illness will get worse if they do not get the attention they need. Indeed some people will surely die before they receive any notification.

Surely people should get some information to let them know they haven’t been forgotten?
