IT is obvious that the Prime Minister, the Health Secretary, and the Government’s Chief Medical Officer, have all been guilty of ignoring their own advice on “social distancing”.

Moreover, as I have been expecting, it is now being said that the measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus are going to have to be in place for far longer than the three weeks which Boris Johnson originally talked about.

Given how disruptive of normal life these measures are, I can understand why the Government would not want to discourage people by overestimating, but surely we deserved better than such a gross underestimate?

I wish I could say I was surprised, but unfortunately Boris Johnson has a history of saying what people would like to hear, rather than giving them the facts.
