THE coronavirus has affected our society and many will have to remain within their homes for months to come.
As a result, the broadcast media needs to reflect this new reality and change the type of programmes it is broadcasting.
There’s still a need for programmes to entertain. However, there must be new programmes for young and old on how to keep fit through exercises they can do at home.
There also needs to be educational shows aimed at helping children and teenagers with their home learning.
Other types of programmes are needed which would teach people cookery on a limited budget, how to repair clothing, etc.
Such information isn’t restricted to the broadcast media as there’s also a role for newspapers.
Our world has changed and many people are doing their part to make a positive difference. But there are things they can’t do. However, the media is in position where it can provide that help.
