WITH regard to the Skerningham “garden village” plans in Darlington (Echo, Feb 4), I want developers and councils to stop suggesting that these huge housing estates are having any relation to gardens or villages.

They clearly are not, as a walk around any of the recent building sites outside Darlington will show. Legoland would be a better label.

If we want a barren and silent landscape for our children, we are moving in the right direction.
