I WAS very disappointed to read Scott Wilson’s article criticising both Luke Trotman and Darlington FC (Echo, Jan 24). Luke is to take part in the ITV2 reality TV show Love Island.

Luke is part-time footballer who plays for DFC, he is a talented footballer who received a serious injury, in August, which will prevent him from playing until March at the earliest.

He is also studying at university for a degree in banking and finance from which he will have a hefty debt. Taking part in the show will allow him to raise funds to finance his future

DFC has made a conscious decision to allow him to take part, the club manager, Alan Armstrong has stated he would not be allowed to go if he was not injured and that he has been given a program to allow him to continue with his rehabilitation.

What is wrong with that Scott Wilson? Love Island is not a programme that I watch but millions do. So Scott, give both Luke and DFC a break and wish us both the success for the future

Ralph Bradley, DFC 500 club ticket holder.
